What day is it?
So, it’s 12:15 AM on November 2, 2008. Daylight savings time is ending at 2:00 AM. This has been a crazy semester with school, work, everyday chores, and making future plans. Right now I’m working on a response to an RFP (Request for Proposal). The minimum is 15 pages, that sounds like a lot, but now that I’m halfway into it, it’s going to become a burden. Keeping on top of all of my school work has made October just fly by; I can’t believe it is already November. In two day is the 2008 Presidential election: Obama versus McCain. I am planning a small party for the evening with a few friends, hopefully the election will be entertaining, not depressing.
I know that my blog is mine and I can do with it as I wish. But, I cannot help but feel guilty that my “recent” posts have all been fluffy. I have not written much substance in a long time. I can blame my busy days, but then I’d be lying. I will try to do better. I want to find something important to write about and do an intelligent job. So, I guess today is Sunday. I hope to see you soon!
MeToday 5-29-2008
Summary: I’m really busy, working 7:30 am to 5 pm. I don’t have anything exciting to mention. I will be moving on Saturday. I will be in Seattle from June 9th to June 17th. I’m sorry I haven’t had time to watch or post on viddler.com.
April, The Worst/Best/Busiest Month of the Year
This month is the worst and best month of the year. It has always been the busiest month for me and my family. I finalized my new lease for June 2008 through June 2009. I have received information that I might be getting $300 from the IRS for the Economic Stimulus Package. The tests and projects are revving up. I had one test yesterday. I have two tests on Wednesday (4/9/2008) and more coming later this month. My immediate family has 3 birthdays this month, including my own.
Money is tight at the moment, so I’m watching every purchase with great vigilance. I have to get groceries soon, but I don’t get paid until 4/16. I’ve been needing to get an oil change, so I finally did today. My wallet hurts a little; $55. This afternoon and evening I decided to procrastinate as much as possible, so I didn’t read the 200+ pages for my 2 exams on Wednesday. I researched my schedule for the fall and I’ll talk to my adviser to determine if what I choose is appropriate. When I have a nailed down schedule I’ll post something about it. I’ve also been cleaning: the bathtub, vacuuming my room, sweeping the kitchen and entry, and washing my dishes. After that I listened to and watched a few podcasts. Security Now! 138 I finished my day just with Finance homework and blogging. I hope your month is better than mine. (My month isn’t really that bad, but I like to over-exaggerate.)
Crazy Busy!
Today was slightly wild. I woke up around 7:30 this morning and left for my hometown at around 8:20 am. My previous boss had his computer crash, so I went to see if I could get some things back to the way they were before. Around lunch time I run home to get a few things to take to my new place. On Aug. 4th, I moved to a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom condo with 3 other guys. Adam, my friend from church since I was 4, is one of my new roommates.
After I loading my car, I head back to my previous job. I installed a trial version of Office 2007 until they buy a copy. Just playing with it a little while, it seems very good. I think I’ll upgrade my computer to it. At around 1:00 pm, I have to leave. I grab some lunch at Dairy Queen and pay with 26 quarters. I got a unique look from the cashier.
While eating, I head toward my new job. I work as a Technician in the Internal Information Support department of an unnamed company. It will remain unnamed because the handbook says I’m not suppose to publish to the world for whom I work. Anyway, today I did a few tasks/jobs and then just sat around. I did however get locked in to an area of the building I work at. Some of the doors only let you in and the others were locked after 6:00 pm. One of the doors is just malfunctioning. Fortunately, someone in an adjacent room opened a “window” and allowed me to crawl out.
I’ve had a few phone calls today that I needed to respond to. One related to a wedding I’m attending tomorrow. Another was to find out when my fall semester at Texas A&M ends. And the last one was to figure out my weekend plans.
While I was at my previous job, I got a picture of a lake. Now, I can finally start working on a website for them and get paid! I’m excited though. I like messing around with CSS and HTML. I’m going to see if I can figure out Drupal. Anywho, I have some videos to catch up on. Later, and I do apologize for the informality of this post.
I’m still alive…
Ok, so it’s been four weeks since my last post. I do apologize. This semester is going to swamp me constantly. I’ve had three exams in 6 days with one more exam on Friday. I feel like I did okay; we’ll have to see. I’ve got two projects due on Monday and several chapters to read in all of my classes. But, I’m trying to, and for the most part succeeding, in staying on top of everything.
I do believe this culture of ours is overly stimulated and hyperactive. We always have something to fill in every last minute of our days. I’m guilty of this for sure. I have podcasts that fill up my “free” time. We all need to step back and just think; not about anything in particular or specific, just mentally float.
Something you may already know if you know me personally is that I’m a hopeless romantic. I’m the one who wants the guy to get the girl. Lately, I’ve just had a strong concern or desire to find a woman to complete my life. I want to find a soul mate to share everything with. I don’t know why I’ve been thinking about marriage lately; maybe it’s because I’ve been too busy to do anything social, but getting married has always been a strong desire of mine. Yes, I know, this is really deep so I’ll be moving on now.
I’ve had a pretty continuous argument with my dad about Wikipedia for the past couple of years. He says that it can’t be used for anything, because it is unreliable. I don’t believe that to be true. There have been many, many times that Wikipedia trumps any other place to find info for my college homework or studies. You have to take the info with a grain of salt, yes, but you have to do the same thing with college textbooks which are written by individually biased, intentionally or not, professors. Every time you go to a lecture or read a page out of a textbook, you are taking the word of the author that the information is accurate. With Wikipedia, you are taking the word of groups of people who have edited and are re-editing the page. Along with that, I believe that the history of the edits is available so viewers can go back and compare the different entries for false information or back and forth changes of a controversial issue. So, to sum all of this up, where ever you get your information, you must look at the source to verify accuracy.
Spring Semester
Well, there are only 6 more days of school. I have three finals: physics, political science, and calculus. I’m not worried about physics or political science. Calculus is going to be rough. We had our third exam last night. I feel alright about it, but not great. Everything has been going 90-to-nothin’ for the past two weeks. I can finally slow down now. I turned 19 on the 22nd. I don’t feel different or special. Oh well, I just a year older. Maybe I’m a little smarter too.
Update: I made an 88 on my calculus exam. I am so glad.
Spring
Spring is such a busy time of year! Taxes, marriages, the end of the school year, lots of birthdays, broken down cars, exams, movies, work, etc… I am stressing out. There is a lot on my plate right now. I don’t have time for a whole lot more. I’m stressing about my physics exam tomorrow that should be pretty easy, so I don’t know why I’m worried. I hope everyone has a less busy spring than I do.
