Sunburnt

I really sunburnt my feet and legs at Port Aransas this past weekend. We went to the beach for the weekend. Mamaw (Judy) was there, too. It was really windy which made the waves really high (bonus!) and kept the temperature down. Though the sun still got me. The trip was a lot of fun even though I was burnt. Posted by Picasa

Exam II

Exam II was on Monday and we got our grades back today. I made another 104. I’m really tired of the class right now. We’re doing probability and it’s not super fun or easy. Better get back to my homework.

Norton Internet Security

I finally broke the chains from Norton Internet Security. I replaced it with NOD32 for anti-virus and Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall as the firewall. So far I like them a lot. They don’t hog the system half as much as Norton did and I haven’t had problems with them freezing or anything. Norton was bloatware and if I happened to get infected, it would have immediately been turned off by the virus. I don’t have to pay as much either. It’s $10 dollars cheap than Norton. I had been having quite a few problems with Norton freezing up my system and slowing down the shutdown for several minutes. The firewall was also and enormous pain with it’s constant “What do you want to do? Block, Allow, Block Always, Allow Always.” The Allow Always never worked anyway! It drove me crazy; I couldn’t get anything done. That’s all over. I’m free! Free at last!

Power Outages

I’m just starting to hear about power outages happening across the country. New York, California, Missouri, etc. This isn’t good news. It’s hot outside, and here in Texas it’s humid. If I lost power at home, it’d be very uncomfortable. I think I would stay at the MSC. There are couches I could sleep on. More power plants need to be built if these outages keep happening. We’re the greatest nation in the world. Why can’t we keep our populous electrified?

Entrepreneurial

The past couple of days I’ve been very entrepreneurial in that I’ve purchased a print/scanner/copier, I’ve created a business card, and I have gone to 2 different people’s homes to do whatever they need on their computer. The first consulting job was to copy some information into an Excel file, fix an inactive DSL line (the modem happened to be turned off), and connect a printer and install a scanner on one parallel port. The other job was to setup AOL on a new computer and install updates for McAfee and Microsoft Windows. I’m hoping to start doing this a little more often to make a little money on the side.

Exam I

I had my first exam in Business Math yesterday. I’ll find out my grade before the weekend is over if everything goes as it is supposed to. I’ll update this with the grade when it comes.

It seems like this is going to continue to be a pretty easy class after having calculus. If it gets hard, I’ll let you know.

Update: I made a 95, missing only one problem, but there was a 9 point curve so I made 104.

Camp

This week Mom, Amanda, Braden, and Mikayla are all at camp. I’m bach’in’ it. It’s not that big a deal though, I have to go to school at 8 AM and then I work the rest of the day. I’m kinda bored with everything right now. All of my friends are out of town, busy or I can’t get in touch with them. My bank account is also much lower than I want it to be. I’ve got to stop spending money, so that my balance will increase.

At school in my classroom, I was able to download a video file at 4.8 Mbps! That’s an insane speed. Something that would take one hour at work, took 30 seconds there. I’m very hooked to the high-speed!
